Product Designer

The hand of the director. to understand what the director wants. they need to get everything they need to make it seem realistic or normal. primary responsibility is to respond to the script. then to fit your vision within the restraints of a budget. maintaining a good relationship with the people around you and that will influence the quality of work depending on how you work as a team.

They work with;

  • set dressers
  • buyers
  • co-ordinators
  • location department

Production designers are responsible for the visual concept of the production. They identify a design style for sets, locations, graphics, props, lighting, camera angles and costumes. while working closely with the director and producer.

issues that can occur:
you will need to be prepared for schedules to change due to actors being able to film at different times
also the script may change depending on different circumstances or improvements found and used

skills needed:
you should be good at multitasking
you will need to get along with everyone because bad relationships negatively effect the product
you must never stop going for it as it will take time and hard work
interior design is helpful when going into the job
art history is good reference
apprenterships in set design to get a look at the job to see if you will enjoy it
listen to the director because they are the ones in charge and rolling instructions is needed
follow a budget because you need to keep within guidelines of finance.
they need a degree in a relevant field such s graphic design or art design.
