regulators
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all media. they apply the Advertising Codes.
they regulate the contents of advertisements by viewing complaints made about ads, sales promotions or direct marketing, and deciding whether such advertising complies with its advertising standards codes.
The types of ads they deal with include:
- Press ads
- Radio and TV ads (including teleshopping presentations)
- Ads on the internet, smartphones and tablets
- Ad claims on companies’ own websites
- Commercial e-mail and text messages
- Posters/billboards
- Leaflets and brochures
- Ads at the cinema
- Direct mail, whether addressed to you personally or not
Media Channels:
- Packaging and point of sale
- Online, catch-up TV and radio,
- in-app and in-game
- Mailings
- Email,
- Phone/fax and messaging
- Cinema
- TV and radio (broadcast only)
- Poster and other out of home
- Newspapers,
- magazines and printed materials
they impact what you can put into an advert and what you must not have in the advert. it will also tell you what would make something an advert and what is legally allowed for an advert.
For this task you were required to look at two regulators in your pair (three if you were in a group) and present back information about the regulator in a powerpoint/prezi. You were also required to collect the presentations from everyone else in the class one they presented their work.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I can only see one regulator....
This needs to be improved ASAP. With your exam fast approaching, you will struggle revising from this blog post.
Next lesson you will be asked to improve blog posts and this needs to be a priority.
